Press Release: Euro-African Foundation Concludes Participation in Warsaw Human Dimension Conference 2024

Warsaw, Poland – October 11, 2024*

The Euro-African Foundation (EAF), represented by Adil Abdel Aati, concluded its successful participation in the 2024 Warsaw Human Dimension Conference today. The conference, which took place from September 30 to October 11, provided a vital platform for global dialogue on human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. EAF actively engaged in discussions and networking with international political leaders, academics, and civil society organizations to further its mission of promoting political reforms and democracy in Sudan and Africa.

The conference began with an official opening ceremony featuring high-level speeches from prominent figures, including Ms. Mariam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, and Mr. Radosław Sikorski, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs. Adil Abdel Aati attended the opening reception hosted by Malta, where he networked with representatives from Sweden, the United States, the Netherlands, Turkey, Greece, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan, exploring opportunities for international collaboration on democracy and human rights.

During the conference, Mr. Abdel Aati participated in discussions with human rights activists and international organizations such as Human Rights Watch, and engaged with activists from France, Switzerland, Catalonia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, exchanging ideas on shared human rights challenges. He also had the opportunity to meet with Sweden-Sudanese religious freedom activist Kamal Fahmi, discussing the critical role of religious freedom in building tolerant societies.

On October 2, Mr. Abdel Aati took part in a side event organized by Azerbaijani NGOs, focused on preparations for the upcoming Climate Conference in Baku. In this event, he discussed the impact of environmental changes on refugees and displaced persons in Sudan and Africa, highlighting the need for long-term solutions to restore affected communities. He also appeared in a television interview with an Azerbaijani news channel to stress the importance of international cooperation on climate change.

Today, as the conference concludes, EAF’s Director of Public Relations, Ms. Nada Rusnak, joined Mr. Abdel Aati at the closing sessions, further cementing the Foundation’s commitment to building global partnerships. Their participation reflects the Foundation’s ongoing work to strengthen democracy, human rights, and environmental resilience in Sudan and Africa.

Adil Abdel Aati emphasized, “Our participation in this conference reinforces our commitment to building international coalitions that support political reforms and human rights in Sudan and Africa. We look forward to continued engagement with global partners to create a better future for the region.”
